On November 16, the entire nation of Tajikistan celebrates President’s Day — a day that is cherished and honored by our proud people. To truly understand progress, we must compare our past with our present. We should remember what our yesterday was like and what successes we have achieved today.
Fate granted the Tajik nation a remarkable leader in a time of great turmoil and danger — the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.
In the early 1990s, Tajikistan was engulfed in a brutal civil conflict. As a result, despair, hopelessness, mistrust, looting, bloodshed, and hunger spread throughout the society. Many citizens were forced to flee to neighboring countries, becoming refugees.
In such a critical moment, the country needed a devoted and courageous leader who would dedicate all his strength to defending national independence and saving the nation from collapse.
God blessed the Tajik people with such a leader. Thirty-three years ago, at the historic XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, the young Emomali Rahmon took an oath as Chairman of the Supreme Council, pledging to bring peace to Tajikistan, repatriate all refugees, and unite the suffering and divided Tajik nation.
Through tireless efforts, dangerous journeys, and constructive dialogue with various political groups, this great statesman succeeded — at the cost of his own life and safety — in restoring peace and national unity across the country.
That is why the noble people of Tajikistan came to love their Leader deeply, trust him fully, and entrust the future of their homeland to his hands — and they were not mistaken.
Today, our country enjoys high international prestige. The Tajik model of peace has become a subject of study in political science. The nation’s development, stability, and standard of living have reached new heights. Tajikistan is now considered one of the safest countries in the world, and Dushanbe has become a capital of international conferences and cultural events.
On this auspicious occasion, I congratulate all citizens of our country and wish the Leader of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon good health, long life, and the people of Tajikistan lasting peace, stability, and continuous progress under his wise leadership.
