PRESIDENT’S DAY – A SYMBOL OF LOYALTY TO THE LEADER OF THE NATION

On November 16, 1994, during the session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, the ceremony of swearing-in and assumption of office by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan took place. The purpose of designating this date as a holiday lies in the fact that it marks the beginning of a new, decisive stage in the country's modern development. From this historical day, in accordance with the Constitution of the sovereign state, the presidential system of governance was officially established in Tajikistan, and the newly elected President began carrying out his constitutional duties.

In recognition of the political leadership and statecraft of the new national leader, his role in ensuring peace, unity, and solidarity of the people, and for strengthening the authority and international status of sovereign Tajikistan — achievements that are directly linked to the competence and effective activity of the President — the date of November 16 was officially adopted as the President’s Day in the legislation of our country.

Throughout the history of advanced nations, there have been prominent and distinguished leaders who emerged during difficult and sensitive periods, ensured stability and peace, determined the path of future development, and elevated the reputation and status of their countries. Such outstanding individuals include George Washington — the first President of democratic America, whose birthday is celebrated as President’s Day; Mao Zedong — leader of China; Mustafa Kemal Atatürk — founder of modern Turkey, all of whom made invaluable contributions to the progress of their nations.

On the international stage, the President of Tajikistan is recognized as a peacemaker, a unifying figure, a supporter of democracy, a builder of progress and prosperity, and an initiator of global solutions. His leadership has been acknowledged not only by the citizens of Tajikistan but also by the global community.

The noble people of Tajikistan celebrate President’s Day as a blessed holiday — a symbol of loyalty to the President, and thus loyalty to the Homeland. Indeed, the contributions of the exceptional statesman Emomali Rahmon in building the Tajik national state, restoring political stability and independence, preventing national collapse, extinguishing the flames of civil war, and reviving the paralyzed government structure — are truly remarkable.

We must continue to strengthen the institution of presidency, take pride in our history, strive for its revival, and work diligently for the development and prosperity of our beloved Motherland. Today, Tajikistan is freer, more beautiful, and more prosperous than it was yesterday or in earlier years. In this, the contribution of the President of Tajikistan — the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon — is enormous.

Considering the constructive initiatives and direct efforts of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, in ensuring nationwide peace, stability, unity, achieving the strategic goals of the country, and adopting national laws, we firmly state that he is the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, and the architect of the modern statehood and legal system of Tajikistan.
