On 25 May 2026, within the framework of the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development,” the Agency of Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted an international forum entitled “Water and Artificial Intelligence: A Two-Way Nexus.”
The event brought together the leadership of the Agency of Innovation and Digital Technologies, representatives of ministries and government agencies, United Nations entities, international experts and development partners, scientific institutions, as well as specialists in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
The forum served as an international platform for discussing the interconnection between water resources and artificial intelligence technologies, the development of sustainable digital infrastructure, and the application of innovative technologies for the efficient management of water resources.
It was emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan, as a global advocate of water-related initiatives, attaches particular importance to the implementation of digital technologies, the development of the digital economy, and the use of artificial intelligence to address issues related to climate change and water resources.
Within the framework of the forum, two panel sessions were held under the following themes:
- “Water for Artificial Intelligence: Ensuring Sustainable and Responsible Digital Infrastructure in Relation to Water Resources”;
- “Artificial Intelligence for Water: Leveraging AI Opportunities to Strengthen Access to Water Resources.”
The discussions focused on the efficient use of water resources in the development of digital infrastructure, the operation of data centers, the implementation of environmental standards, and ensuring the sustainable development of artificial intelligence technologies.
Participants also discussed the application of intelligent analytics, water resource monitoring, and the use of modern technologies for forecasting climate change-related risks.
Forum participants highlighted that the integration of science, technology, and public policy can provide a solid foundation for addressing issues related to water resources, climate change, and sustainable development.
The importance of developing human capital, strengthening international cooperation, and implementing joint digital projects in this field was also underscored.
At the conclusion of the event, the parties expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in the development of artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and the implementation of innovative technologies aimed at the sustainable management of water resources.
